THE KOKO STANDARD: Our commitment to the highest level of safety.

We are family women and men first and at Koko our community IS our family, therefore we make decisions based on taking care of each other like the family you are. So when we sat down to discuss and plan our new safety measures we went beyond just the recommended guidelines.

We have always been dedicated to the cleanliness of our studio and the health and safety of our community long before Covid. This plan builds upon Koko's already recognized high standards of health, safety, and cleanliness – and takes them BEYOND THE BEYOND.

NEXT STEPS

The Koko Standard of Health and Safety

The health and wellbeing of our community has always been our top priority, and we’re even more focused on it now. And right now that means safety first! As we learn more we will continue to perfect and fine tune this page with the latest so you can always check back here. Scroll below for the changes you can expect from our most recent plan.

SAFETY FIRST

OUR TASK FORCE

Medical and Health Professionals Team

Yup, you read that right. In addition to following the safety guidelines put in place by our government we have enlisted a small task force of medical and health experts to help strategize and continue to adapt our reopening plan. There’s a lot of confusion, opinion, and misinformation out there. This team helps us cut through all of that noise to provide you with the experience, knowledge, research, and opinion that matters most in keeping you safe and well.

OUR EVEN DEEPER CLEANING PROCESS

Top-Grade Disinfectant and Even More Frequent Cleaning

Before Covid our normal cleaning procedures at the club already included cleaning and disinfecting the club before and after both the morning and evening shifts for a total of 4 x’s daily at a minimum. We will now be adding additional rounds during all shifts as well as doubling up on machine wipe downs after workouts. We are also adding enhanced santizing products to our inventory with EPA-registered, proven virus-killing disinfectants.

More Cleaning Stations

In addition to the 2 cleaning stations already provided (the wipes and hand sanitizer section located by the fitcheck and restroom) the club will now add an extra station at the entrance/exit of the club.

Disinfecting High Touch Surfaces

At very regular intervals, we’ll be disinfecting doorknobs, handles, rails, light switches, sanitizing stations, bathrooms, sinks, toilets, benches, the front desk, keyboards, computers, phones, and extra equipment.

Disinfecting All Machines

All machines must continue to be wiped down after use by members but staff will also be doubling up on wipedowns after workouts.

Gloves

As per government orders members and staff will be required to wear gloves.

OUR ADDITIONAL MEASURES

Signage

Signs will be posted throughout the gym to remind people of best practices while at Koko FitClub.

Touchless Hand Sanitizer (coming soon)

Motion-activated stations will dispense sanitizer with a higher alcohol concentration. We’ll have one station by the restroom, and one by the front door. In the meantime, we’ll have hand sanitizer available in the studio as usual.

Covid Corner

Media coverage, opinions, and fears aside our Covid corner will help keep you properly informed to combat misinformation with vetted and approved material regarding Covid-19 from our expert safety task force.

Cardio Distancing

Our strength machines our already spaced 6 feet apart. However we suggest using every other machine when possible. Some cardio machines will not be available for use to keep in line with ditancing guidelines.

Extra Limited Capacity

We of course will not only be following capacity limitations set by the government, but will also be further limiting our capacity for added safety.

 MEMBER RESPONSIBILITY

MEMBER RESPONSIBILITY: KEEPING EACH OTHER SAFE.

Our members are part of the team when it comes to keeping our club clean and safe. The way our new safety process will be most effective is if we all make sure to do our part in it. (Good thing Koko people are the best people.) So, here are some ways you can help out and do your part for the community:

Go Above and Beyond

Aside from respecting the safety guidelines put in place by our governments, we ask that any member coming to the club walks in with the approach our Koko Fam takes for most things: Go above and beyond for each other.

Masking

For obvious reasons when it comes to high intensity exercise the following applies only to those who are able. Masking is encouraged and it is recommended to use cloth masks/covering for exercising. Surgical masks are not recommended.

Start with Hand Sanitizer

All members are encouraged to use our hand sanitizer upon entering the building.

Enter Through The Front, Exit Through The Side

To help with the flow of traffic and keep distance please use the front door to enter the building and the side doors located behind the front desk to exit the club.

Clean Between

As always all machines and all attachements need to be wiped down after use with the wipes provided. Staff will be doubling up on wipedowns after workouts as well!

Social Distance

Machines are already placed 6 feet apart. However we are asking all members to use every other machine when possible. Working out or not always be conscious of practicing social distance rules by imagining a treadmill between you and others.

If You’re Not Feeling Great …

If you have a cough, fever, or symptoms of COVID-19, do not come to the studio until you’re symptom-free and fever-free. If you feel unwell or have any concerns about coming in to the club, stay home and stay safe.

Thumbs Up > High Five

While we love our high-fives at Koko for now you’ll have to settle for a thumbs up!

Slow Time Visits

We encourage members to come outside of the busiest times so traffic is more spread out. Currently a few of our non-peak times include the hours between 5am-6am, 1pm-4pm & 8pm-10pm.

 NEXT STEPS

WHAT’S NEXT??? WE’RE CONTINUING TO MONITOR THE SITUATION.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and take every precaution to keep you safe (and encourage you to do the same).

In the event that there is a reported case of COVID-19 in our studio and you were potentially in contact with the individual, you’ll be notified immediately. From there, we’ll take the proper safety precautions to disinfect the studio from top to bottom.

With no way to lower risk to 0% or predict what will happen, the best way we can prepare is to respond and evolve as the situation develops while continuing to put your safety first.

Whether you plan to join us in the club, or feel more comfortable staying home, we’re here for you. If you have questions or concerns, let’s talk it out at lead.houstonheights@kokofitclub.com
